1997 BMW 328i, possible head gasket issue, other possibilites?

I recently bought a 97 BMW 328i, 6 cyl 2.8L with 188k miles. When I test drove the car it drove awesome and had no warning lights of any kind.

When I got home however I noticed white smoke from the exhaust as well as a warning to check coolant level. Instantly I feared what seemed to be the obvious: blown head gasket.

The white smoke also is probably not simply condensation because it billows out at idle or when I take off from a stoplight and does not die down after warming it up and driving it for a while. The smoke does however come and go, but is usually present.

Some things have made me think otherwise possibly..
Intermittently the CEL has turned on and off and when it was on I pulled the codes, which came up as misfires on cylinders 4,5,6 as well as one or two for o2 sensors. Which was surprising since it drives pretty smooth (who knows maybe I’m just used to the rough idling hunks of crap I have been driving.
The coolant does not seem to be getting lower in the reservoir and I haven’t needed to top it off. The oil on the dipstick looks pretty light brown and fresh. Under the oil gap appear to be some gummy looking stuff, but doesn’t look milky like water mixed with the oil. The acceleration and start-up have not suffered at all. I’ve not driven the car for longer than 30 mins, but it has not overheated at all. It does get up to halfway fast, but never past halfway. Also, the head gasket was redone just 2 YEARS ago in may of 2010. So unless the water pump or thermostat went out and caused it to overheat again.. i don’t see it being the head gasket again.

As for possibly a bad fuel/air mixture, mistake me if I’m wrong but wouldn’t that produce blueish smoke? The smoke definitely appears white to me, but I’ve heard it’s hard to tell. Also, I cannot tell the smell of the smoke, there is a light scent when you get very close to the tailpipe, but it smells the same as other cars exhaust I’ve smelled, but maybe I’m wrong.

It’s currently at the dealership I bought it from being checked out by their private mechanic.
So my question is…
What else might cause this white smoke? Do you think it’s just such a small leak that I haven’t seen the consequences yet?
If it is a really minor internal coolant leak, should I attempt to use something like a copper seal temporarily till I can save up for the labor of a head gasket or a new engine altogether? I know these are bad for your cooling system.. but will one attempt of liquid sealer really completely plug my heater core or radiator?

I will update if I forgot anything or hear anything from the mechanic.
